Rev Limiter Setup – Ignition Cut Before Fuel Cut (Safe & Sound?)

in FZ / MT 07
Hey everyone,
I’m working on a custom tune for my 2021 MT-07 EU model (BAT-8591A-00) using FTECU’s bikeside
harness and came across some confusion regarding rev limiter strategy.
Default Settings (before):
- Fuel Soft/Hard Cut: 10,450
- Ignition Cut: 12,950–13,500
Adjusted Settings (now):
- Fuel Soft/Hard Cut: 10,400–10,450
- Ignition Cut: 10,450–10,500
The idea is to let ignition cut hit slightly before or at the same time as fuel cut — aiming for a sharper limiter feel, possibly with mild pops (I’ve also disabled injector decel cut, O2 sensor, and CA EVAP).
Do these new settings look safe and effective to you?
Anyone tried a similar setup for a snappier limiter or flame tune?
Setup info:
- Full custom exhaust (the muffler is an Austin Racing replica, short pipe), no cat
- Stock air filter, snorkel delete
- Running slightly richer fuel map near redline (9500–11,000 RPM @ 94–99 TPS)
Appreciate any feedback or additional suggestions!
